Welcome to the more than 12,000 explorers who have found their way into the Alien Worlds metaverse during the past month! During the last 24 hours as of this writing, there were 7,348 active players (explorers).

Climbing the Charts

The popularity and organic growth of the game has moved Alien Worlds very quickly Dapp Radar’s charts during the past week:

Game Play: Mining

What are explorers doing in the game? Mining Trilium, the in-game ERC-20 currency, and game cards, which are NFTs on the WAX blockchain.

No fees are required to start playing Alien Worlds. A future explorer needs only a WAX cloud wallet login to get started. Explorers have shown that you don’t have to be a gamer to play Alien Worlds. “I showed my friend how to play, even though she had never played games before, and now she knows how much time until she can go click Mine and Claim,” said one Alien Worlds player during the first month of gameplay.

Whether mining with the cards provided upon entering the game, or using cards previously mined or acquired from others, explorers can earn Trilium and occasionally, other NFT cards that can be used in-game.

The amount of Trilium mined per planet varies throughout each day. Miners who like to watch data consider the planetary pools and activity to guess best places for mining.

Card Upgrades Through Shining

Shining is now here, allowing Explorers to trade game cards for newly minted, rare cards.

Within the first day, players burned and minted cards at amazing rates:

Planetary Governance

The Alien Worlds Federation, composed of the game’s founders, lead the governance of the game. However, over time, they will be handing governance of some aspects to the players.

One of the most innovative aspects of Alien Worlds is that planetary governance will be turned over to explorers. Six planets will each be governed by individuals who stake Trilium to the planet, earning voting rights and influence.

Although functionality for explorers to govern planets has not yet been activated, TLM staking has begun. Explorers stake TLM in a planet to have future voting rights in the governance of that planet.

To date, more than 22 million Trilium has been staked across all planets.

Community members are starting to gather in groups to stake on planets. In some cases, such as CryptoMonKeys recent promotion, communities are encouraging others to stake on a particular planet by offering rewards for staking.

Although staking doesn’t currently offer rewards, it will be used to determine voting power once governance functionality is enabled. It is anticipated that governance will be released increasingly over time, providing for exploration of the concepts surrounding decentralised autonomous organizations (DAO). Each planet will be governed by a DAO, consisting of other explorers staking on the planet with elected custodians and a system for projects and voting.

In addition to mining, communities of Alien Worlds explorers are being created by both the Alien Worlds Federation and also by players.
