Traveling through the Metaverse can be tricky business. Having the best tools can mean the difference between a good mine and a low mine, or health in the upcoming Thunderdome.
How can the average explorer with a bag full of shovels get ahead?
The Federation cares about each and every explorer and created Alien Worlds Shining to help those with or without their ideal tools.
Now, explorers can take 4 game cards and turn them into new shiny game cards, each being created with a new mint number (usually much lower than the cards shined). Tools and avatars are only the first cards that can be shined; others cards will likely qualify for shining in the future.
Do you have some tools and avatars that you’d like to turn into a shiny new game card? Before you get started, make sure you have enough Trilium. The Trilium and items you need to shine are detailed in the table below:
If you are an explorer who looks at the details and interprets them for explorers you may encounter, you will want to review the statistics relevant for each of the cards here.
Note! The cards you select for shining will be burned. You may want to select high mint number cards to shine.

Once you have selected the cards you want to shine and have confirmed that you have enough Trilium in your account, to get started:
- Go to https://unbox.alienworlds.io/inventory
- Log in with your WAX account
- Click the item you want to shine and then click the Shine button
- Select the other 3 items to shine and click the Shine button
Here is a standard shovel that has not been shined:
Here is a shined shovel, which burned 4 cards to create. Note the relatively low mint number, being the 36th shovel shined.
How are shined tools used in the game? Tools are used for mining, which results in Trilium. When in the Mining Hub, tools can be selected after clicking claim, between mines.
Shined tools and avatars go through an assimilation process, so there is a short period before they appear in Equipment in the game. This assimilation process ensures that your newly minted shined tools can be used for mining. Avatars will be available for future use, after their assimilation process.
Note! So as not to lose your last mined Trilium, be sure not to change your tools before clicking claim!
You may want to check your mining results using the same land and toolset before and after you add your shined tool. Explorers often like to add to their field notes the impact in their mining strategies from making changes like this, as new features and functionality are available in the metaverse.
More stories about shining will be shared in the future, as additional functionality is added for explorers. Meanwhile, share your thoughts and ideas in the Alien Worlds Official Telegram group, the active Alien Worlds Discord community and Alien Worlds Twitter.
About Alien Worlds
Alien Worlds is an NFT defi metaverse running on the Ethereum and WAX blockchains. The in-game currency — Trillium (token symbol TLM) — incentivises explorers to play games and must be staked to participate in governance. Planets within the metaverse are decentralised autonomous organisations which receive daily Trilium from the central metaverse smart contracts. Explorers engage through mining by acquiring and renting land, and voting for Planetary governance to impact Trilium payouts. The metaverse is extensible because Planets are independent and can offer their own games UIs and NFTs. Indeed, users are already doing this.
